An interesting, and helpful, new Baldur’s Gate 3 companions AI mod has been released, packing various AI presets.
Created by modder ‘TPAdvance’, the ‘Companions AI‘ mod for Larian Studios’ hit title, this brand-new modification packs nine AI presets for any role or class. In addition, the mod contains three custom AI presets that users can edit and use to their liking. According to the mod’s creator, this mod is only active in battle and works with friendly NPCs and animals/summons as well.
Enabling and disabling the Companion AI is relatively easy and can be done via the common tab in the spellbook by casting a spell on the preferred companion. The mod includes the following AI presets:
Attacker(Melee) for Fighter/Barbarian/Monk
Controller(Melee) for Warlock/Paladin
Supporter(Melee) for Cleric/Paladin
Attacker(Ranged) for Ranger/Wizard/Sorcerer
Controller(Ranged for Bard/Wizard/Sorcerer
Supporter(Ranged) for Bard/Druid
Attacker(Hybrid) for Rogue/Warlock/Sorcerer
Controller(Hybrid) for Warlock/Sorcerer/Bard
Supporter(Hybrid) for Druid/Bard
Going through the comments section of the mod, some users appear to have encountered some issues with the AI spell not showing up or not working as intended. Most of the users, however, have expressed to be really with the mod. As such, those interested in AI presets for your companion can at least give this promising mod a try.
The BG3 Companions AI mod can be downloaded via Nexusmods here. As always, be sure to follow the provided installation instructions before using it. For those who are into modding – be sure to check out these other mods for the game as well – the expand party size mod, a mod that unlocks the game’s level cap, additional spells and feats mod, an increased difficulty mod, and various Quality-of-Life improvement mods.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available globally now for PC. As covered earlier, the game is an enormous hit and has been breaking Steam concurrent player records since its release last week.
