According to a Twitter post from well-known technology leaker Jon Prosser, Apple will launch the fifth generation iPad Pro in March alongside the gadget finder chip AirTag.
The iPad Pro was last updated in March 2020 when it gained the A12Z chip, which was a tiny leap from the A12X chip in the 3rd generation iPad Pro. The other thing that improved in March 2020 was the camera – which gained 12MP Wide and 10MP Ultra Wide cameras and the LiDAR sensor. It wasn’t a big update though, and then when Apple launched the iPad Air with a A14 chip and a new design later in 2020 it certainly started to look less than impressive.
Also March, as far as I know

The new iPad Pro is expected to have a mini-LED screen, which should improve colour reproduction and contrast as well as be more energy-efficient. It may also offer 5G, under-screen Touch ID. There are rumours that eventually the iPad Pro will get an OLED screen, but it seems we will have a longer wait for this. There may also a new placement for the speakers.
Prosser isn’t the only one anticipating an immanent update. Ming-Chi Kuo previously published a note suggesting spring 2021 is when to expect the updated iPad Pro. In addition Digitimes claimed that a large-volume of component shipments indicated an iPad Pro release was likely in the first three months of this year.
The idea that Apple will hold a March event has been rumoured for a while. In October 2020 Prosser tweeted a prediction that Apple would hold an event on Tuesday 16 March 2021, so that date looks possible, although the products being announced has changed since his original prediction.
Okay, how about “One More Thing” ?
After this November ARM Mac event, the next Apple Event (currently a digital event) will happen on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 🗓
Event headliner will be AirPods Studio (B515) https://t.co/UxqQr6je1c pic.twitter.com/oCxVhg3owb
