Sony has rolled out a new PS5 System Update Beta, offering VRR support for 1440p resolution, Discord Voice Chat alongside various UX, accessibility, and social feature improvements.
The new beta is available for invited beta participants from various countries including the U.S., Canada, Japan, the U.K., Germany, and France.
As said, the main new features include support for Discord Voice Chat, which allows players to join Discord voice chats on their console. In addition, this new firmware version introduces 1440p VRR support, allowing users with 1440p displays (VRR compatible) to benefit from smoother visual performance when playing a title that supports VRR. Also, a nice new addition that comes with this new system update is improved saved data migration, making it easier to access and transfer saved data between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles (and PS5 to PS5 as well).
A release date for this new PlayStation 5 system update has yet to be announced, but Sony mentions that it’s planned for a release in the “coming months”.
