While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.
So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank
Turnip Boy’s adventures into the unlawful have taken their latest step with Turnip Boy Robs a Bank. As the title suggests, Turnip Boy has upped the ante from mere tax evasion to a bank heist, presented in roguelike fashion with top-down hack ‘n slash action galore.
Developer Snoozy Kazoo first launched this sequel on PC and consoles in January 2024, with its mobile release now following a full year later.
It’s Literally Just Mowing+
Instead of touching grass IRL, Apple Arcade subscribers now have a convenient means of mowing that grass away, digitally, from the comfort of the indoors. With the release of It’s Literally Just Mowing+, Australian developer Protostar has extended its sim game to Apple’s subscription service where lush gardens, zen vibes and daily rewards are abound.
And as an added bonus? No hay fever included.
Cassette Beasts
Open-world monster battler Cassette Beasts has finally made the move to mobile, already up to par with the Version 1.5 update on other platforms. Originally scheduled to launch last, developer Raw Fury ultimately delayed this pixel-powered adaptation in the hopes of better meeting player expectations.
There are still certain features like an online co-op and an endless dungeon mode missing in action, but two DLC expansion are already available on mobile, as is a free demo period for tempted Cassette Beast customers.
Trials of Mana+
The original Trials of Mana may be turning 30 years old in 2025, but its 2020 remake still fits right in with modern-day RPGs, with its branching story paths, various character classes and more.
And now that the remake’s made it onto Apple Arcade, iOS subscribers have one more way to experience this Square Enix story, undertaking a journey to the Mana Sword, taking down the Benevedogs and restoring peace to the world.
Gods & Demons
Summoners War developer Com2uS has started its 2025 with the release of turn-based idle RPG Gods & Demons, delivering diverse dungeons, competitive cross-server content and over 60 Heroes to choose between.
Each Hero has its own unique skills and falls into one of five races, bringing a range of strengths and weaknesses to the deck-building table.
Rasta Santa
Deluxe Creation Studios’ new action title will see players take on the role of Santa who investigates missing children, only to stumble on a desolate orphanage with no kids in sight. Fueled by anger, Rasta Santa embarks on a mission to raid the traffickers’ hideouts, blow up their operations, and save the kids.
The game’s developer has emphasised a storytelling twist by releasing the game episode every New Year, creating a yearly tradition to surprise players in January instead of December.
Dragon Quest X
Square Enix has launched yet another Japan exclusive with its mobile port of Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Offline, a premium title and a single-player remake of 2012’s Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online.
Offline’s expansion, The Sleeping Hero and the Guiding Ally, is also available for an additional purchase on app stores, where players can expect to ride everything from a luxury cruise ship to a legendary dragon.
