While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game. PocketGamer.fun brings you latest games, lets you see them in action and download right from the page.
So here are the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Torerowa
Is there any such thing as too much loot? If roguelike dungeon explorer Torerowa tells us anything, it’s that there’s always room for more. It’s also full of foes thinking the same, however, meaning dungeon crawling can quickly transform into a battle for not only treasure, but for simple survival.
Developer Asobimo encourages players to bring some backup on these dangerous quests, allowing friends to form online parties of three to take down those most imposing enemies in 10-minute matches. And, just to add an extra dash of adrenaline to the situation, the winning party can claim the loser’s loot. Sounds tempting…
Currently in open beta, Torerowa follows a long line of Asobimo RPGs from Metria The Starlight to Toram Online.
Going Up
Marrying the worlds of mobile games and elevator management, Apple-exclusive puzzler Going Up seeks strategic minds to optimise motion for a fussy cohort of characters. The puzzle is in choosing which lifts to move through a skyscraper when, to get everyone from tourists to CEOs and even soldiers to their desired destinations.
Each stage is built with a different challenge to overcome, sometimes meaning multiple lifts will be operated together, run only between specific floors, or even skip certain floors entirely. The minimalist style add a strong sense of atmosphere to this management simulator, and makes for a visually compelling mobile debut from developer Dylan Kwok.
What’s more, as a pay-upfront title, Going Up can be played on the go with no in-app purchases. And with the portability of mobile, yes, it can even be played inside a lift!
Ludo King NETFLIX
Gametion’s mobile pioneer Ludo King may have been making waves in the Indian video games scene since 2016, but its latest splash is with a Netflix-exclusive edition boasting brand-new features and a contemporary, sensory style.
The title is at its core a Ludo game, tasking players with racing around a board based faster than their friends and disrupting each other’s progress. The original board game was itself inspired by India’s ancient Parchisi, so it’s fitting that an Indian company like Gametion should make a record-breaking mobile adaptation centuries later.
With over one billion downloads to date on the Google Play Store, Ludo King certainly has accessibility down to a fine art. It doesn’t look like too risky a roll of the dice for Netflix, therefore, to bring a new edition to its subscribers too.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Idle Adventure
What with the wealth of anime-centric games coming out at the minute, and titles like Bleach: Brave Souls getting a bit of a renaissance, we’re not surprised that the next series to get a new game is hit manga and anime The Seven Deadly Sins from Netmarble.
The Seven Deadly Sins centers around legendary knights whose personalities or abilities are related to their assigned ‘sin’. After being framed for a crime they didn’t commit (obvs) they’re called upon once more to save the kingdom of Britannia and clear their names.
Previously the series spawned its first mobile spin-off, the action game Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, but if you’re a fan of the series that’s been put off by its more frenetic predecessor and want something a little more laid back, then Seven Deadly Sins: Idle Adventure is the game for you.
Divide By Sheep 2
Indulge in some mad mathematical mayhem in Divide By Sheep 2, a colourful puzzler that aims to improve your math skills by sending innocent sheep to their untimely demise. While that might sound a tad too morbid for a game that supposedly helps you out with your logic and memory, the vibrant visuals and adorable art style can lull you into a false sense of security, and before long, you might just be itching to kill off these bovine creatures for your own intellectual betterment.
With evolving obstacles across 150 puzzles, you won’t run out of ways to divide and eliminate your sheep, whether that’s sending them off as food for the Kraken or watching them burn alive into a fiery crisp. The best part of it all is that it’s entirely ad-free so you can divide your sheep undisturbed.
