According to a new report from the analysis company Omdia (via Tech Advisor), the iPhone 11 was the bestselling mobile phone during the first half of 2020.
A total of 37.7 million units of the iPhone 11 were sold during the period, compared with 11.4 million units of the second-placed Samsung Galaxy A51 and 11 million for the third-placed Xiaomi Redmi Note 8.
Apple has a total of five models in the top 10, with the Galaxy the only representative of a company that isn’t Apple or Xiaomi. In addition to the iPhone 11 in place 1, the iPhone SE came fifth, the XR sixth, the 11 Pro Max seventh and 11 Pro tenth.
It may be worth pointing out, however, that Apple always benefits in these comparisons from its relatively low number of models. Other companies have far more, and their sales are therefore split into less impressive-seeming figures for each individual model.
Samsung, which other than the second-placed Galaxy model appeared to have a pretty disappointing half-year, actually sold the most smartphone units in Q2.
