A new Xbox dev kit console was certified today in South Korea, and the model number reveals it is not a development kit for a known console.
As reported by KoreaXboxnews on X/Twitter, the new dev kit was certified today by South Korea’s National Radio Research Agency, essentially allowing the device to be used in the country. The model number, 2089, is different from that of the Xbox Series X|S dev kits, which were both certified five months before the release of both consoles, so this is a dev kit for another, yet-to-be-revealed Xbox device.

With Microsoft supposedly not releasing a mid-generation refresh, it’s hard to even speculate about this newly certified dev kit. An Xbox Series X digital model is rumored to be in the works, but it wouldn’t need a new dev kit, as its hardware would be identical to the current model, and the next generation console is way too far from release to already have a dev kit certified.
As the Xbox Series X|S dev kits were certified less than six months before the launch of the actual consoles, there’s a good chance we will hear more about the device for this unknown dev kit soon. We will keep you updated on the matter as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
