Released in 2015, Mytona’s hidden object puzzle game Seekers Notes recently celebrated its ninth anniversary.
The game, which is available on iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac has been downloaded more than 43 million times across 195 countries and was ranked second-highest for a casual game in the hidden object genre in the second quarter of 2024.
Other games leading the genre are Playrix’s Manor Matters and Wooga’s June’s Journey, which last year reached a milestone of $1 billion.
Nine years of Seekers Notes
“Over these nine years, Seekers Notes has changed a lot, but at the same time, it has retained its unique atmosphere, which players have come to love.” Seekers Notes core producer Anastasiia Vorobeva tells PocketGamer.biz.
“Over these nine years, Seekers Notes has changed a lot, but at the same time, it has retained its unique atmosphere.”

Vorobeva shares that the game has had “good and challenging times,” but thanks to perseverance and the support of the game’s loyal players, it has been able to “overcome all difficulties.”
“When we first started development, the team was small, and I had the opportunity to witness both the project and the team grow, not only in size but also in professionalism,” says Vorobeva.
Keeping a game alive in the mobile games market for a decade comes with its own challenges, from user retention to staying vigilant of other competing games within the genre.
Vorobeva tells us that the team pays a lot of attention to the early stages of the game to maintain and improve retention. The marketing team also plays a “key role” in bringing back old players and attracting new ones.
“There have been times when the game’s metrics declined, and in such moments, it’s important to spot the problem promptly and take action.”

“Of course, there have been times when the game’s metrics declined, and in such moments, it’s important to spot the problem promptly and take action,” Says Vorobeva. “For example, we put a lot of effort into updating the beginning of the game, but when we saw that it was leading to a decrease in retention, we reverted to the old version, which helped restore metrics”.
Community impact
Mytona credits part of Seekers Notes long-term success to understanding who its core audience is. Vorobeva explains that the game’s primary audience consists of older players according to surveys, and to better understand them, the team often pays attention to the interests of their own parents and grandparents.
“Our team regularly conducts surveys about our players’ interests, and we strive to add features and content that will appeal to our audience,” says Vorobeva.
As with any ongoing game, LiveOps and events play a crucial role in keeping players engaged. The Seekers Notes team analyses trends and conducts A/B testing to see how new features may impact the game. These results can then be used to introduce new in-game events and mechanics.
“We keep an eye on what other games in our genre are doing and on popular games with our audience. We analyse each new feature and study data over a long period to understand how the game is perceived in the long term.” Vorobeva tells us.
Another aspect the team attributes to the title’s long-term success comes from its community aspect, with it becoming a social platform for players with over 94,000 guilds being created, comprising 2 million players.

“Guilds definitely play an important role in player retention,” Vorobeva says. “Many of our players actively participate in guild activities, make friends, and support each other. We even have touching stories about how players met and became friends thanks to the game’s social aspect.”
The Mytona team is committed to Seekers Notes’ continued support following its anniversary celebrations with more in-game events expected as the game now heads towards its tenth year.
