Nvidia continues to keep its Shield TV devices bang up-to-date, with the latest software update adding support for controllers from the most recently released games consoles.
As The Verge reports, Nvidia just rolled out Shield Experience Upgrade 8.2.2. and the major feature it introduces is support for both the PlayStation 5 DualSense and the Xbox Series X/S controllers. In order to pair these new controllers with your Sheild TV, simply hold the PlayStation and Share/Create buttons on the DualSense until the light pulses blue. Or on the Xbox controller, hold the pairing button until the Xbox button blinks.
Once paired, either controller can be used to interact with your Shield TV, but more importantly, used to control Android games or any title offered through the GeForce Now game streaming service. The latest games added to GeForce Now include Cyberpunk 2077, Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Among Us, Watch Dogs: Legion, and Stickman Skate Battle.
The other notable addition 8.2.2. brings is support for the Control4 home automation system. It allows the Control4 remote or app to be used to navigate the Shield TV user interface as well as launching installed apps. Owners will also be pleased to hear that Nvidia included the December 2020 Android security patch as part of the update as well as fixing a few bugs.
