Update, April 23, 2020 (12:45 PM ET): OnePlus just announced new limited edition OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro pop-up bundles. They each include one of the devices, a pair of the Bullets Wireless Z earbuds, a Cyan Sandstone phone case, and a Karbon phone case. The best part about these bundles is that they only cost Rs. 1,000 (~$13) more than the standard handsets.
Unfortunately, the bundles are only available in India, and customers need to win an invite code to purchase one. Ugh, OnePlus and their invite codes. In order to get a code, customers must participate in OnePlus’ recently announced Instagram challenge using one of two new device unboxing AR filters.
Participants need to head to either @oneplus or @oneplus_india on Instagram to see the new filters, use one of them in a video on your Instagram story, tag @oneplus_india and use the #OnePlusARUnboxing hashtag in the post, and then save the video and upload it here. OnePlus will hand out codes to those who make the most creative unboxing videos.
The company didn’t reveal how many winners there will be or when they will announce them, but you can read more about these bundles and the AR challenge over on the OnePlus forum.
Original article, April 14, 2020: The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are finally here and it’s clear that the company is graduating from its “flagship killer” status to a full-fledged “premium” smartphone maker.
The top-of-the-line OnePlus 8 Pro is a dollar short of reaching the four-digit price mark, while the OnePlus 8 has a more digestible price tag, costing close to last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus’ premium prices for the new series were more or less expected. The company has been on a trajectory of increasing the cost of its phones ever since the beginning.
Nevertheless, OnePlus has made it very clear that it wants to compete with the Samsungs and Apples of the world. The OnePlus 8 Pro is proof of that, with its fast wireless charging, IP68 rating, 120Hz display, and powerful quad camera setup.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus 8 misses out on living up to the company’s “Never Settle” mantra, at least on paper. It doesn’t have any of the aforementioned features, which is definitely a let down for fans who’ve been expecting them.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at all the pricing and availability details for the two OnePlus 8 phones. Keep in mind that these differ on the basis of countries and carriers, so make sure to check the section that’s most relevant to your region and operator of choice.
OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro pre-orders
The first US and UK preorders for the OnePlus 8 series went live April 14 on the company’s own website. These preorders sold out in about two minutes, so OnePlus released a second preorder limited run in the US April 22. Both of these sales have since finished, so customers will have to wait until the handsets go on general sale April 29 to pick one up. Customers will be able to purchase the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro through a number of different platforms. Read on for all those details.
OnePlus 8 Pro Killer flagship
OnePlus is all grown up. With the OnePlus 8 Pro, you get an unabashed flagship, with all the bells and whistles. Powerful specs, an amazing display, fast wireless charging, and water resistance make the OnePlus 8 Pro a great alternative to the Galaxy S20 Plus, and it’s up to $300 cheaper.
OnePlus 8 Snapdragon 865 on the cheap
The OnePlus 8 sticks to the formula that has made OnePlus so successful. It gets you the latest processing package, a versatile camera, and a beautiful display, running the smooth Oxygen OS. You miss out on wireless charging and the official IP rating, but for what it offers the OnePlus 8 is an attractive deal.
OnePlus 8 series price and availability in the US
In the US, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will be available through OnePlus’ own website, Amazon, T-Mobile, and Verizon. The phones will go on general sale on all these platforms starting April 29. Here’s the breakdown of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro US pricing and availability.

Amazon
Note: There are no pre-orders through Amazon. You will need to wait until general sales begin.
Verizon
Verizon will only sell the vanilla OnePlus 8 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Verizon’s version will support the carrier’s mmWave network and will officially be called the OnePlus 8 5G UW. Verizon’s version, unlike the model sold unlocked from OnePlus, will feature IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The OnePlus 8 Pro will not be available through Verizon, at least for now.
You can buy the OnePlus 8 through Verizon’s website and the My Verizon app in Onyx Black and Verizon-exclusive Polar Silver colorways.
You can either opt for a 24-month payment plan for which you’ll need to shell out $33.33 per month, or you can purchase the phone upfront by paying $799.
Verizon also has a bunch of trade-in offers for new and existing customers buying the OnePlus 8. Those switching from another carrier to a Verizon Unlimited plan can get up to $700 off on the OnePlus 8 by trading in their old phone. Switchers also get a free Stream TV, a free Amazon Echo Dot, and a smart plug from the carrier.
Existing customers are eligible for a discount of up to $550 on the new phone through various trade-in offers.
In addition, Verizon will also sell OnePlus 8 cases from OtterBox, Speck, OnePlus and InvisibleShield.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile will also carry the OnePlus 8 (but not the OnePlus 8 Pro) in the United States, with availability starting on April 29. More details will come later regarding T-Mobile pricing.

You can purchase the OnePlus 8 phones in Europe through the official company website or through Amazon.
OnePlus 8 series price and availability in India
On April 19, OnePlus finally revealed pricing info for India, and it looks like the company is going for an ultra-competitive approach in that country. India gets three variants of the OnePlus 8 with color options restricted to some SKUs. The 6GB RAM and 128GB version will be restricted to the Glacial Green color, while the 8GB RAM option lets you buy the phone in Onyx Black as well. Finally, the Interstellar Glow version is restricted to just the 12GB RAM/256GB ROM version.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus 8 Pro is available in 8GB and 12GB RAM versions with 128GB and 256GB of storage respectively. The Ultramarine Blue colorway is restricted to just the top-end version.
