Overwatch 2, Season 10, entitled “Venture Forth” arrives tomorrow and Blizzard has fully spelled out what it will entail. The season will introduce new drill-wielding, underground burrowing hero Venture, but that’s not all. Players can look forward to the “Mirrorwatch” event, which sees several characters swap alignment from hero to villain, and vice-versa, resulting in new looks and tweaked movesets, the launch of the capture point Clash mode, big changes to how heroes are accessed (they’re all free immediately upon release now), and more. You can check out the Overwatch 2 Season 10 launch trailer, below.
We’ve already covered the abilities of Venture, but you can get the full lowdown on them here. Meanwhile, here’s the rundown on the Mirrorwatch event, which kicks off on April 23 and runs until May 13.
“Discover a world turned over in the reversed reality adventure, Mirrorwatch: a limited-time event set in a mirror universe where the virtuous have crumbled into villainy, and the wicked emerge as heroes. Swap alignments and experiment with reimagined Heroes and abilities like Strike Commander Doomfist’s Power Block shield, Vengeance Mercy’s Soul Burn detonation, and Agent Colomar Sombra’s Anti-Virus Ultimate. Twist reality further, taking the fight into a redesigned Watchpoint Gibraltar, where Talon has taken over. Explore this unique mirror universe for a limited time from April 23 to May 13.”
Meanwhile, here’s what you need to know about Clash mode, which will be available for a limited time from April 16 to April 29.
“Prepare for the adrenaline-pumping Clash game mode, a limited-time trial to start Season 10. This ultimate tug-of-war challenges teams to capture points along a linear path. With five capture points strategically placed on a mirrored map, teams must deftly maneuver to capture and defend points to clinch victory. Dynamic spawns and streamlined map routes expedite your return to the fight, maximizing time spent in the heat of battle. The Clash trial will allow you to explore Hanaoka, a brand-new map spanning an area within the beloved Hanamura district, offering fresh battlegrounds to conquer with a familiar feel.”
As mentioned, starting with Season 10 all heroes, including Venture, will be immediately available for free – no need to work through the battle pass. Previous post-launch Overwatch 2 characters Kiriko, Ramattra, Lifeweaver, Illari, and Mauga will also be made available. Blizzard is also changing how you earn cosmetic rewards – Overwatch Coins are no longer earned via challenges, but by working through the battle pass. The approach to Mythic skins has also changed. Rather than simply unlocking the Mythic skin upon completing the battle pass, you’ll now earn “Mythic Prisms” which you can use to unlock and upgrade the Mythic skins of your choice, past, present, and future. You can also purchase these Mythic Prisms with real money. The evil-looking Mercy in the header image is this season’s Mythic.
Of course, Overwatch 2 Season 10 also comes with a variety of other fixes and tweaks, including a fairly extensive rework of Hammond and changes to competitive play. You can check out the full, unabridged Season 10 patch notes here.
Overwatch 2 can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Switch. Season 10 officially kicks off on April 16.
