Overwatch 2 will bring a new Season of content along with it. Today, Blizzard announced the contents that will come to the game during the third Season which begins tomorrow. This Season will bring with it a bunch of new cosmetics, limited-time events, and even a completely new Control map that will be available for all players.
You can see a trailer for Overwatch 2 Season 3 below:
Season 3 will see the addition of the Antarctic Peninsula, a map that allows players to discover the station where the Overwatch Ecopoint team was faced with an anomaly threatening the world. There are a lot of secrets on this map, one of which is the icebreaker ship that Overwatch tried to use to rescue Mei and her friends.
Below, you can see some screenshots of this new Control Map, which offers a lore-rich tundra environment with stories yet to be told. The most iconic landmark, as stated before, is the Icebreaker that Overwatch used. However, there’s also an underground drilling station that has several flank routes and some high-ground advantage over high-traffic areas and objectives.
Season 3 also brings a new Asian Mythology theme which is going to bring aesthetics from Korea, Japan, and China. This new Season will also bring unique skins that will add some mystical flavor to your heroes. The Premium Battle Pass will bring with it the Amaterasu Kiriko Mythic skin, which is inspired by various deities in Japanese mythology.
Overwatch 2 will also see some more improvements in terms of rewards. Players will be rewarded with more goodies just for logging in and playing. Additionally, the free track of the Battle Pass will offer ten additional tiers of rewards as well as 1500 credits that can be used in the Hero Gallery. Additionally, there’s going to be a gold medal weapon charm if you log in at any point between February 7 and February 20.
The most noteworthy aspect of the Season is the first-ever collaboration between Overwatch 2 and One-Punch Man. This collaboration will bring Saitama’s getup as a skin for Doomfist (naturally) and also opens Overwatch 2 for more collaborations in future seasons. Additionally, other limited-time events will happen across this month, such as a dating simulator during Valentine’s day and the return of PachiMarchi.
While there’s going to be a ton of events, the balance side of Overwatch 2 will also see a bunch of new content as well. The full patch notes will be available later today. Additionally, the game will also see some additional changes in its matchmaking and competitive mode. Here are the most important changes:
- Roles on both teams will now be similarly ranked
- Competitive Rank will update every 5 wins and 15 losses
- Season 3’s mid-season patch will have a UI update allowing you to see your information for progress toward a competitive update.
- This mid-season patch will see Top 500 leaderboard players rank updated every match rather than every 5 wins and 15 losses.
This Season will come packed with lots of content, so make sure to keep yourself topped up and, as always, best of luck on the battlefield. Overwatch 2 is currently available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
