Palworld is unlikely to release on Nintendo Switch, but the reason has nothing to do with the similarities with the Pokemon franchise, judging from some recent statements from the game’s lead creator.
Speaking in a new interview with Game File, Takuro Mizobe was asked if the popular survival game would ever be released on other platforms. According to Mizobe-san, the studio is still discussing releasing the game on other platforms, but a Nintendo Switch version is unlikely to be among them due to technical reasons. This is somewhat expected, given that the PC version’s minimum system requirements exceed the Switch’s specs.
During the same interview, the Palworld lead creator also provided an update on the supposed investigation The Pokemon Company began earlier this year due to the aforementioned similarities in some monster designs. According to Takuro Mizobe, nothing has actually happened since, as there has been no legal communication between The Pokemon Company and Pocketpair.
Since its Early Access release back in January, Palworld has been updated multiple times with new features and content, and soon enough, the game will receive its biggest update yet. The Sakurajima Update introduces a new island, the titular Sakurajima, new Pals, the new Arena, an increased level cap, new buildings, and more. The update is set to go live on PC and Xbox Series X and S later this week, on June 27th.
