Capcom decided to build excitement and encourage pre-orders for Resident Evil Village by releasing a demo with a one hour time limit. Of course, PC gamers quickly figured out how to extend play beyond 60 minutes.
As Eurogamer reports, a Steam user who goes by the name Leaves figured out a six-stage process which successfully resets the time limit. The good news is, you can reset it as many times as you like. The steps required can be seen in the image below taken from the Steam forums:
As you’d expect, many Steam users are asking Leaves to send them his tool to automate the reset. When someone jokingly pointed out it’s probably quicker to wait for the game to release than go through the reset process, Leaves responded by saying, “Haha, well – tbh there is not much content in the Demo, just to explore and get the Gimicks someone might has [sic] missed. So 1hr is plenty to complete both “Demos””
For many, the first hour will be more than enough to decide if they want to purchase the game or not. And regardless of whether you choose to reset the time limit or not, Capcom is planning to release Resident Evil Village on May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia, so there’s not long to wait and only Switch owners are set to be left out assuming they don’t game on any other platform.
