In just over a month we’ll be heading to Helsinki for Pocket Gamer Connects on October 1st and 2nd, which also happens to be the event’s 10th anniversary.
More than 1,500 delegates are expected at the show from all corners of the industry, from development and publishing to ads, tools, tech – you name it, they’ll be there.
Part of the show will focus on indie developers – the lifeblood of the games industry. We’ll be shining the spotlight on indies and championing them through a number of initiatives at this year’s conference.
We’ll of course be hosting the Big Indie Zone, an exclusive expo area within the conference dedicated to indie developers and their games. The zone runs for the full duration of the two days and is always a vibrant and very popular segment of any PGC conference.
Whether you’re a publisher looking for new talent, an investor in search of your next focus, a service provider keen to share the benefits of your tools, or even a developer hoping to exchange ideas with your contemporaries, swinging by The Big Indie Zone is highly recommended.
If you’re interested in taking part – we’re running a competition for indie developers to win a free ticket or expo table (including two tickets) with which to attend the conference. To enter for a chance to win, you can fill in the form here.
Audience Choice Award
This year we’ll have the Big Indie Zone Audience Choice Award, supported by Jam City. Attendees can simply pick up a voting form from reception, try out the games, and make their choice of the game that impresses them the most. The winner will be announced on the afternoon of day two.
Jam City is an award-winning mobile entertainment company providing unique and deeply engaging games that appeal to a broad, global audience. The company is the creative powerhouse behind some of the industry’s highest-grossing games, which have been downloaded by nearly 1.5 billion players around the world. Jam City’s megahit narrative-based, RPG mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery was recently awarded a prestigious Webby Award for Beyond Hogwarts, its highly-imaginative, massive game expansion showcasing the company’s strength in delivering innovative, triple-A iterative content. More indie-focused events
We have of course also got the Incredible Indies track – with talks from representatives of BAD Spiele Studio, GDBAY and Snowball Games. There will also be a panel hosted by PocketGamer.biz Podcast host Peggy Anne Salz all around the future of indie publishing.
Meanwhile, the Very Big Indie Pitch is back again. If you’re a developer working on a mobile title, this event offers the chance to present your game to a panel of industry experts, get feedback, and potentially win our top prizes – including the famous Big Indie Pitch baseball bat! You can apply to take part here. The deadline for applications is Friday, September 20th, 2024.
Elsewhere we also have Investor Connector, offering a chance for developers and investors to make first contact and potentially make a deal. Developers and investors can learn more about the event and apply to take part here.
Then we have the Publisher SpeedMatch, which enables shortlisted developers and publishers to meet during a dedicated one-hour stint of speed-date style meetings. Want to get involved? Head here.
Don’t forget – while you’re in town, Pocket Gamer Connects will take place during Finnish Games Week, which also includes the IGDA Finland Leadership Day and W Love Games.
Book your ticket to the show!
Finally, if you are interested in heading to the show, all indie developers get a discounted rate on tickets for the show. You can secure your ticket to the conference on the PGC website.
