The PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X mid-gen refresh are probably coming, but they may not impact Take-Two’s business too much, according to CEO Strauss Zelnick.
Speaking during the Q&E session held after the company’s latest financial report, as reported by GamesIndustry, Strauss Zelnick was asked about mid-generation console refreshes, saying that we will probably see them. How much of a difference for the company’s business they will make it’s impossible to tell at the time, but they may not have much of an impact as the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X did not affect business too much, which is an interesting statement.
Speaking about consoles other than the supposed PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X refresh, the Take-Two CEO also spoke about the Nintendo Switch, confirming the publisher will continue to support the console beyond this year, despite their recent cancellation of Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
With someone like Strauss Zelnick saying that we will probably see the PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X refresh, it’s looking more and more likely that these consoles will be coming. This is also the first time we have heard about a new Xbox console, as rumors about the PS5 Pro have been circulating for a few months. According to these rumors, the console will release in late 2024, after Sony launched its Q-Lite handheld device and new base PS5 model compatible with a detachable disc drive.
With both Sony and Microsoft hosting showcases in the coming weeks, there’s a good chance it won’t take long to learn about new hardware coming from the two companies. As always, stay tuned to be among the first to learn about upcoming hardware.
