Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has thunderbolted past $100 million in gross revenue in less than three weeks since global launch, continuing to hit new highs in daily earnings.
The collectable card game reached $100 million in just 17 days, hitting the milestone on November 15th. This was also its most lucrative day yet, yielding $8.2 million from player spending across the App Store and Google Play, according to AppMagic estimates.
The title has already flown past the $100m milestone with total earnings now at $120.8 million, as of November 17th.
Packs of progress
TCG Pocket has averaged almost $6.4 million in daily player spending since global launch. Meanwhile, the game generated an initial $35.8 million in week one and a further $48.5 million in week two.
Five days into week three, the latest Pokémon hit has made another $37.2 million thus far.
Japan has consistently remained its biggest audience with a current contribution of $50.6 million, or 42% of global spending. The US follows at $33.6 million, equivalent to 28% of total revenue.
With so many fan favourite creatures present from release and the physical card game’s own popularity, TCG Pocket’s early success has landed it safely as The Pokémon Company’s second-biggest mobile launch in history – merely $18 million behind Pokémon Go’s $138.8 million when it was 19 days in.
The location-based phenomenon has proceeded to make over $8 billion.
Previous silver medal holder Pokémon Masters, meanwhile, made $26.4 million in its first 19 days and has since surpassed $300 million over five years. TCG Pocket is almost halfway to Masters’ lifetime milestone in a matter of weeks.
