HITMAN maker IO Interactive has lofty aims when it comes to the quality of gameplay animation they want to achieve in Project 007. The game developer is hiring animators, and the studio’s Twitter account has shared a few statements from members of the Animation team to intrigue would-be candidates. Joshua Andrew Gleaves, Senior Gameplay Animator, said:
We are pushing Gameplay Animation to something yet unseen. It’s constantly challenging, yet rewarding, as the team push each other to achieve new heights. You will help cement the animations on Bond and the world we are making, on an exciting new canvas.
Gemma Costa, Senior Cinematic Animator, commented on the exciting vibe felt within the Project 007 team:
We have a solid team that covers all aspects of the animation process. Everyone owns their space, and there is a lot of open collaboration between teams. You are really hands-on in several aspects of the production. It’s amazing how well that aspect works in IOI. There is a lot of enthusiasm and drive to grow.
The team is hiring a Cinematic Gameplay Animator, a Gameplay Animator, and a Facial Animator, but that’s just a small sliver of the open roles listed on IO Interactive’s website. For Project 007 alone, the studio is seeking 22 roles. That could seem strange given the date of the game’s announcement (November 2020). However, the games industry is known for its high turnaround of employees. As such, it is not unusual for developers to keep hiring throughout the whole development of a game.
We don’t know much about Project 007. So far, IO Interactive only said it will be an entirely new origin story of the first James Bond. The developer has recently opened new offices in Istanbul and Brighton to develop Project 007 and its other major project, the online fantasy roleplaying game unveiled last February. The latter is still a few years away, though, so we should see Bond’s game way earlier.
