It seems like Sony might be developing some sort of wireless earbuds for the PS5. According to Insider Gaming’s sources, the wireless earbuds will be scheduled for release toward the end of the 2023 Fiscal Year. Additionally, the company has been rumored to be developing a new wireless headset for the PS5.
So, let’s talk about the earbuds first. The PS5 earbuds project is named Project Nomad, and according to Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, the earbuds will have an approximate battery life of 5 hours. The earbuds will also come with a charging case that can be charged through a USB-C cable and connected to the PS5. The same connection method can also be used for wireless earbud updates.
Regarding the headset, the company is supposedly developing a new wireless headset dubbed the Voyager. This headset is set to be release at a similar time as the Nomad and will have a similar functionality to the Inzone H7 headset (which we’ve talked about before). If you need a refresher, the H7 offers 360 spatial sound, 30 hours of battery life, noise canceling, and other features such as a flexible flip-up boom microphone with a mute function.
Another noteworthy thing to add regarding the Inzone headset is that they come with a Dual Noise Sensor Technology implemented by Sony, which could be implemented in the Voyager for an enhanced experience for PS5 users. The Voyager headset is aiming to be released at the same time as the Nomad earbuds. However, the price point of the Voyager is yet to be determined.
Insider Gaming notes that this development (alongside the rumored PS5 console with a detachable disc drive) could mean a relaunch of sorts for the console. Considering Sony’s overall aim of becoming the Nike of Gaming Gear, it could be that Sony’s new aim will be to promote several accessories for the PS5 console and PC.
