Quake II Remastered has been recently rated in South Korea, suggesting that an announcement for the return of the classic series by id Software is imminent.
As reported by Gematsu, South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee recently rated the game, but its website doesn’t provide any information on the remaster, as the game’s page only features a generic description of Quake II. As Quake Remastered was rated ahead of the game’s announcement at QuakeCon 2021, it is likely the remaster of the second entry in the series will also be announced during this year’s edition of the event, which will be held this August in Grapevine, Texas.
While no detail is currently available on Quake II Remastered, the features added to the remaster of the original Quake suggest that the yet-to-be-announced remaster will come with similar features, such as 4K visuals, widescreen support, updated online functionality, mod support, and more. As Quake II did get an RTX version a while back, it will be interesting to see if the remaster will support ray tracing in some form as well.
Quake II Remastered has yet to be announced officially. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
