A new Resident Evil 4 Remake comparison has surfaced, showing Capcom’s new remake running on the current-gen consoles and PC.
Yesterday, following the game’s global release, we covered some videos from ‘ElAnalistaDebits’ comparing the PlayStation versions to each other and the original game to the remake. Today, we have a new comparison from the same YouTube tech channel, comparing the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions to each other.
Capcom has done an outstanding job with this remake with the title offering impressive visuals, even on the past-gen consoles. But how do the current-gen versions stack up against each other, and what about the PC version? The PC version benefits from the highest average resolution and best performance (depending on the setup), while both the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions run Resident Evil 4 Remake in dynamic 4K at 60FPS in Performance Mode. Overall, when it comes to performance between PS5 and Xbox Series X, the PS5 has the edge. When we’re looking at the resolution, the Xbox Series X benefits from a higher average resolution. According to the comparison, this is due to the PS5 version using more aggressive temporal reconstruction. In addition, Microsoft’s console offers better Screen-Space-Reflections than the PS5.
The Xbox Series S version runs RE4 Remake in 1440p in resolution mode at 40FPS with temporal reconstruction, and in 1080p in quality mode at 60FPS with temporal reconstruction. As expected, compared to the game running on the more powerful Xbox Series X and PS5, the Xbox Series S version has a lower level of detail in both animations and geometry. Interestingly, although there’s no ray-tracing toggle on Xbox Series S, it does seem that the Resolution mode on the Series S does feature some ray-traced reflections. You can check out the comparison video down below. What’s your take on the different versions of RE4 Remake?
As said, Capcom has done a great job with this remake with the game being an impressive visual showcase, even on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Overall, we’re looking at a game that looks and runs great on all platforms, although only the PC version is able to maintain a steady 60FPS.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is available globally now for PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. We reviewed the game upon release and we’re quite impressed with Capcom’s most recent Resident Evil remake, praising the game’s fleshed-out characters, visuals, the amount of content, and overall solid presentation.
