During yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play showcase, Sega has announced a remastered Sonic X Shadow Generations for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
The remastered and expanded Sonic X Shadow Generations features a new Shadow story campaign with new abilities and powers alongside a remaster of the original Sonic Generations from 2011. In Shadow’s new standalone campaign, players play as Shadow to unlock his inner powers and confront his nemesis, Black Doom.
“With Sonic x Shadow Generations, we wanted to bring Sonic Generations to PS5 and PS4 while pairing a brand-new Shadow storyline to crossover with the original story”, Sonic Team’s Creative Officer, Takashi Iizuka, said upon the game’s announcement. “With Shadow’s portion of the title, players will get to know him more as a character and understand his motivations. It will create the ultimate celebration of Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Shadow gameplay that all fans will surely enjoy.”
The remastered Sonic Generation focuses on Sonic and friends as their universe is thrown into chaos when a new threat appears, taking them on a journey through time and dimensions. In the remaster, players can experience the game with enhanced visuals, new challenges, and additional bonus content.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is arriving in Autumn 2024 for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. More information about the game will be shared later this year. We’ll update you as soon as more info comes in.
