One of the focuses of this year’s RPG-shooter Remnant II is build crafting, with the game’s Archetypes (the game’s name for classes) being at the core of that experience. The new Remnant II: The Awakened King DLC adds a additional Archetype, the Ritualist, and like many of the game’s classes, it needs to be unlocked in a specific way, but don’t worry, we’ve taken the mystery out of it.
In order to switch to a new Archetype or set up a dual-class character you’ll need to unlock them by acquiring a special item called an “Engram.” These Engrams are equippable items crafted by Wallace (the guy up on the crane in the Ward 13 hub) in exchange for 10 Lumenite Crystals, 1000 Scrap, and one special item, each of which is acquired in a different way. Here’s how to unlock the Ritualist Archetype with a minimum of Frustration…
Ritualist
Engram needed – Cursed Effigy
Special crafting item needed – Ragged Poppet
- Step 1 – The Remnant II: The Awakened King DLC takes place in Losomn, beginning in a new area known as the Forlorn Coast. This area is quite complex, with a twisted design and lots of overlapping paths. Progress until you get to an area called the “Drowned Wen.” Press forward and you’ll eventually come to a watery canal that goes through the center of the Forlorn Coast area. Keep going an you’ll notice a string of boats heading under a walkway. Jump from one boat to another.
- Step 2 – Once you get under the dock, a fairly clear path of floating debris will emerge. Follow it until you come to a hole in a wall. Head through that, and proceed through the tunnel that follows. Eventually, you’ll come upon a witch performing some sort of ritual on a poor creature. Kill them both and search the posts in the area. One of them will have the Ragged Poppet pinned to it.
- Step 3 – Return to Wallace to craft the Cursed Effigy!
And there you go, the Ritualist is yours! It’s a pretty nifty little Archetype that allows you to apply various negative status effects to enemies and potentially inflict big damage. It takes some mastery to get your head around, but high-level players should have some fun.
Remnant II is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. The Awakened King DLC is available as part of the game’s Deluxe and Ultimate Editions or can be purchased a la carte for $10. You can check out Wccftech’s Remnant II guides here.
