The report also states that mass production of the iPhone 13 series and the AirPods 3 could start next month. Nikei expects Apple to build as many as 95 million new iPhone 13 models from the start of production next month through the end of January. For all of 2021, Nikkei predicts that Apple will build as many as 230 million iPhones including older, existing models and new units. That works out to an 11% hike in overall iPhone production for Apple this year.
One person claiming to have knowledge of Apple’s iPhone plans for 2022 said, “It is pretty much decided that there won’t be a Mini next year, and there will be a relatively cost-effective version of the largest iPhone Pro Max instead. However, the designs for the detailed specifications for the four new models next year are not yet locked in.” If things go as planned, next year we could see the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
