Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has shared some additional details about the upcoming Star Wars film featuring Rey.
During Star Wars Celebration, three new Star Wars films were announced from directors James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. No plot details were revealed, but Obaid-Chinoy confirmed that her film will be set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker in the era of the New Jedi Order and see the return of Daisy Ridley as Jedi Master Rey.
In an interview with IGN, Kennedy discussed the announcements and shared some additional details on what fans can expect from Rey’s film, saying, “…We’re kind of post-war, post-First Order and the Jedi are in disarray and there’s a lot of discussion around who are the Jedi, what are they doing, what’s the state of the galaxy?
“And [Rey]’s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books, based on what she promised Luke so that’s where we’re going.”
Kennedy added that she doesn’t know if the film will “spend a lot of time in flashbacks or Force ghosts or things like that,” but says the “spirit of what [Luke] represents to [Rey] is going to be significant.”
Kennedy also shared that the canceled Star Wars: Rogue Squadron film could still happen, saying, “Rogue Squadron, that definitely is something that we still talk about.”
