UGC platform Roblox is now available in the Arabic language to players in the MENA region and across the globe.
The company said that from Q3 2021 to Q3 2024, its daily active users (DAUs) and engagement grew by an average of 80% and 76% in five MENA countries.
The new language support extends to Roblox’s automatic translation tools, allowing creators to make their games available in Arabic without the need for manual translation.
Roblox said it has also implemented its text chat filtering technology in Arabic to detect and block inappropriate content, complementing human moderation to enforce community standards.
The firm added that Arabic-speaking parents can now access updated parental controls, allowing them to monitor and manage their child’s activity on the platform.
Reaching new audiences
“At Roblox, we have a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility and to do that we need a platform that is accessible for all,” said Roblox CEO and co-founder David Baszucki during a fireside chat at Dubai’s World Governments Summit.
“With the growth of our community here in the UAE and in the wider MENA region, we are excited to share that we are now supporting the Arabic language on the Roblox platform, providing millions of Arabic speakers worldwide with access to the platform’s features, on all devices.”
Earlier this month, we reported that Roblox is suing digital game store PlayerAuctions for allegedly violating contracts by facilitating the sale of Roblox digital goods.
Shortly after, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) confirmed that Roblox is “active investigation” but has not disclosed further details due to potential harm to an ongoing enforcement proceeding.
