Royal Match creator Dream Games is developing another match-3 game, Royal Kingdom, which will be released on November 21st.
The new title builds on the Royal Match brand by following King Robert’s younger brother, King Richard, on a journey to discover, unlock and build a range of new kingdoms.
Pre-registrations for Royal Kingdom opened in early October alongside a teaser trailer, which hinted at a November release with a focus on preparing for Thanksgiving – which takes place on November 28th this year in the US.
Now the release date has been confirmed for one week earlier.
A royal flush?
Royal Kingdom has been in soft launch in select territories since April 2023 and has already generated $20.5 million. According to AppMagic data, this has been led by player spending in the UK – accounting for 74%.
Canada and Australia followed at 17% and 6% in spending during the soft launch.
Early spending has also increased in the buildup to the November launch, with month-on-month increases since June 2024. The match-3 title made $1.9 million in October.
As for its popular predecessor, Royal Match, the title has many accolades to its name, including the fastest race from $2 billion to $3 billion in revenue.
Now it’s almost reached $3.9 billion, achieved in under four years since global launch, and is showing no signs of slowing down.
In fact, October 2024 was its most lucrative month to date with $177 million gross generated in player spending.
The huge success of Royal Match saw it usurp King’s Candy Crush and take the puzzle crown last year, all culminating in Dream Games’ prized position in our Top 50 Mobile Game Makers list.
The US represents Royal Match’s biggest audience, contributing 55% of global revenue, but the region hasn’t been included in Royal Kingdom’s soft launch. Whether it becomes a money-making phenomenon like its predecessor remains to be seen, but there’s not much longer to wait to find out.
