Some of you out there might end up with a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 for the holidays. After all, a sale that Microsoft was running for the timepiece is now out of stock. So those who will be getting the device for the holidays and others who already wear one on their wrist will be happy to hear about an update that Samsung has disseminated to the LTE version of the watch.
According to SamMobile, the U.S. version of the Galaxy Watch Active 2 LTE is now receiving firmware version R825USQU1BTJ6. Weighing in at 45.42MB, Samsung says that the update improves the accuracy of the watch’s GPS feature and the strength of its LTE connection. It also adds the ability for a user to use voice guidance through a connected Bluetooth headset while exercising. And when the Auto Lap feature is enabled while cycling and running, you can now use your voice to obtain information such as traveled distance and heart rate data.
Last month, Galaxy Watch Active 2 users in South Korea had already received many of these features. Samsung has been adding new capabilities to the smartwatch since its release by sending out updates. These features include fall detection (and it has nothing to do with telling users that summer has ended), smart reply, chat history, running analysis, scrolling screenshots, smart reply, chat history, support for new emojis and images, and VO2 max.
The U.S. model number of the Galaxy Watch Active 2 LTE is SM-R825U and it is equipped with a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display. The watch is powered by an Exynos 9110 chip and runs Sammy’s Tizen operating system.
