“One UI 5.1 is the up-to-date example of Samsung’s commitment to providing Galaxy users with the latest innovations as soon as possible,” said Janghyun Yoon, EVP and Senior Executive, Software Office. “Over the past several weeks, we have worked closely with our service providers and carrier partners to bring One UI 5.1 to current Galaxy smartphones and tablets around the world within a few short weeks of the Galaxy S23 series announcement.”
One UI 5.1: The new features to expect
Samsung Notes, being one of the most useful and versatile apps preinstalled on Galaxy phones, is now becoming even more powerful. As part of the One UI 5.1 software update, Samsung Notes has now scored a rather nifty collaboration feature that lets you co-edit documents with your friends while you’re on a Google Meet video call, which definitely has the potential to improve its overall utility.
Expert RAW is rather important camera feature that has been enhanced. You can now access it more easily, straight from the expanded modes menu in your regular camera app. Previously, the Expert RAW app was only accessible as a separate app. It’s still available as such, but you can now more easily access it straight from the camera menu hub. This coincides well with the Galaxy S23 series’ improved RAW-taking capabilities, but the Galaxy S22 and Z Fold 4 can also greatly benefit from this interface change.
One UI 5.1 Photo Remaster
Another improvement pertains to the Photo Remaster feature, which lets you fix picture properties like deteriorating details, boosting brightness and contrast, and slightly boosting colors, all with the tap of a button. Photo Remaster will also remove unwanted shadows and undesirable reflections.
One UI 5.1 Dynamic Weather widget
If you own both a Galaxy Book and a Galaxy phone, then you can use both of these as if they were one device. A universal control shared between the two devices lets you use a single mouse, keyboard, and a universal clipboard shared between the two devices. If you use the Link to Windows feature on your phone, you can even enjoy a handoff feature that allows you to continue browsing on your Windows PC, provided that you use the excellent Samsung Internet browser.
One UI 5.1 improves the Galaxy Ecosystem
There are lots of other minor improvements here and there, but at the end of the day, you should definitely look forward to updating your Samsung phone as soon as possible.
