Scottish Games Week is officially on “pause” for 2024, with no event this year due to “disruption” in the broader video games ecosystem and a change in policy and funding north of the border.
The B2B event will instead resume in October 2025 with a larger programme of events spanning the whole video games industry, looking to build a more connected, collaborative event than would be possible in 2024.
Ready for 2025
Organisers are currently looking for partners, sponsors and advisors to support next year’s return, as well as participants from Scotland to bring their local insight and experience. Applications are open to industry bodies, educational organisations, creative industries, funders, financiers, policy makers, media and sector clusters.
Sponsorship has also been simplified in structure and with more than a year to plan for the next Scottish Games Week, it’s looking to be a “truly global event”.
“Disruption across the videogames ecosystem and political landscape in 2024 mean that ongoing delays in funding and support from government and industry have been significant,” said Scottish Games Week founder and director Brian Baglow.
“Rather than risk delivering something substandard, or risk the future of the event and the organisation, we’re hitting pause in 2024. We will bring Scottish Games Week back in 2025, bigger better and more creative than ever.”
The first ever Scottish Games Fest pulled in more than 500 attendees from around the world in 2022, from game makers to publishers to legislators and speakers.
