Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is the first single-player game in the League of Legends universe. It’s set to debut as part of the Riot Forge publishing label by Riot Games in early 2021.
The game will take place in two different regions of Runeterra: Bilgewater, a port town home to monster hunters, smugglers, and gangs who frequent the docks, as well as the Shadow Isles, plagued by the deadly Black Mist. League of Legends favorites like Yasuo, Ahri, Miss Fortune, and Braum will stand by to be recuited to defeat an as-yet-unnamed enemy.
Though the game was officially announced in 2019, it’s finally rounding the corner for a full release. Developer Airship Syndicate is helming the project, the same minds behind Darksiders Genesis, as it expands the League of Legends mythos beyond that of a MOBA.
“Ruined King is a great way to expand the world of Runeterra for brand new players as well as our dedicated League of Legends fans,” said Riot Forge head Leanne Loombe. “Ruined King will be the first single-player game to bring the LoL universe to both consoles and PC. We are excited to take this plunge into exploring stories and champions that players have enjoyed over the years, and can’t wait for our players to embark on this new adventure with us.”
There isn’t a lot we know about Ruined King just yet, as Riot Games has remained pretty tight-lipped. However, there appears to be more information set to debut about the game in December. Right now, your best bet is to keep an eye out for new announcements on social — and keep playing with your favorite characters in League of Legends. You never know where they’re going to show up next.
