Curating audio playlists is an art. Each track should capture the right mood, flow, and tone—whether for a road trip, end-of-summer party, or spa day. Enter Spotify Enhance, a new function for Premium users to add personalized recommendations to playlists.
Taking advantage of the new feature is achieved by tapping the “Enhance” button at the top of each playlist. It will require the latest version of Spotify to work, though, which is rolling out over the next month to all Premium iOS and Android users in select markets (including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, UK, and US). Additional locations will follow in the coming months.
Suggestions are woven into the list—one after every two tracks added for a maximum 30 recommendations. Spotify’s submissions are identified by the plus icon, which users can tap to permanently add a song to their playlist. Nothing else will change; no tunes are deleted or exchanged.
“It’s an addition, not a substitution. The songs you add will never be replaced,” according to a Spotify. “With Enhance, we’re helping our listeners do more of what they love: curate their playlists with great recommendations,” the company said. “Enhance will continue to evolve as we learn more, so stay tuned for those updates down the road.”
This news comes days after Spotify launched Blend, inviting two users to merge their musical tastes into one curated playlist, complete with custom cover art that easily identifies each person’s song choices and test-match scores to compare listening preferences. It’s unclear whether the two features can be combined.
