Patch 7.1 for Final Fantasy XIV is out now, bringing several new features to the game, including main scenario quests, side quests, new trials, and more.
Square Enix announces the first big update via Patch 7.1, following Dawntrail, and will bring more updates in the coming weeks
Square Enix, the developer of Final Fantasy XIV, has released its first major update today after Dawntrail’s arrival. The update is released through Patch 7.1- “Crossroads”, which adds a brand-new main scenario quest and several significant and smaller updates, affecting the overall gameplay experience for Final Fantasy fans.
The publisher will continue with several more updates in the following weeks till January, adding more content to the game to keep the players engaged. After the Dawntrail expansion, which continued the game with a significant story arc, Square Enix showcased Crossroads recently, expanding the ongoing journey of the Warrior of Light.
That said, more new side Quests and Trials, such as Allied Society Quests and The Minstrel’s Ballad, are added with Patch 7.1, which offers gamers more difficult challenges. The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden will be a very difficult trial with Sphene now having a new move set but will provide the third set of wings upon completion.
Similarly, the new Unreal Trial- The Jade Stoa(Unreal) will make gamers face one of the four lords, Byyakko, at level 100. Patch 7.1 also brings a new Dungeon called Yuweyawata Field Station and a 24-player Alliance Raid: Echoes of Vana’diel- Jeuno: The First Walk. Plus, there are several new updates, such as Player Housing Update and Player vs Player Update, for enhanced gameplay experience.
Here is the complete list of updates that are included in Patch 7.1:
- New Main Scenario Quests – Crossroads
- New 24-Player Alliance Raid – Echoes of Vana’diel – Jeuno: The First Walk
- New Dungeon – Yuweyawata Field Station
- New Trial – The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden
- New Unreal Trial – The Jade Stoa (Unreal): Face off against Byakko, one of the Four Lords, at level 100
- New Allied Society Quests – Players will be able to undertake new allied society quests for the Pelupelu that are designed for battle classes and jobs
- New Game+ Support for Patch 7.0 – Replay main scenario quests, job quests, and role quests
- Duty Support Additions – Support for the non-main scenario quest dungeon Halatali will be implemented, with further additions in the future
- Player Housing Update – The ability to select interior designs from different residential areas regardless of the location of the plot and new interior designs will be added
- Player Versus Player Update – Rework of multiple Crystalline Conflict maps, PvP action changes, and more
- Miscellaneous Updates – Additional updates for the Hall of the Novice with training for a wide range of different battle mechanics, NPC voiceovers added to Doman Mahjong, and more
Patch 7.1 will be followed by Patch 7.11, scheduled for release on 26th November, bringing a New Ultimate Raid: Futures Rewritten (Ultimate). It will be followed by Patch 7.15 on the 17th & 24th of December and Patch 7.16 on the 21st of January 2025, adding more content and role quests to Final Fantasy XIV.

- Additional Wachumeqimeqi Quests – Players who have completed all Wachumeqimeqi quests will be able to enjoy a finale to wrap up their respective stories
- New Hildibrand Quest Series – Everyone’s favorite inspector returns for more antics in Dawntrail
Tuesday 24th December
- Chaotic Alliance Raid– The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic): A new 24-player, high-difficulty alliance raid arriving one week after Patch 7.15
