Square Enix has shut down the iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and removed it from the App Store.
The publisher has removed the game due to an unfixable bug related to the in-app purchase model, which prevented players from accessing paid content.
As the issue is tied to Apple’s purchase system, only the iOS version of the game has been discontinued, with Square Enix confirming that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles will continue to be supported on other platforms, including Android, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
Square Enix said that players who have made in-app purchases in January 2024 or later are eligible to request a refund by contacting Apple Support.
The refund applies to all additional content sold within the app, including 15 items such as the Full Version, Moogle Arms, and Relic Arms.
End of support on iOS
“As of January 24, 2025, we have been receiving reports of customers unable to access the additional content they purchased for the iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles,” the company said in a statement.
It added: “This issue extends to the full paid version of the game, which allows users to play through all dungeons. The issue is due to changes made to the in-app purchases model.
“Further investigation revealed that we are unable to completely fix the bug and implement the new changes, making it unlikely to resume service for the game. Thus, we must regretfully announce that we will end support for the iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.”
