Few filmmakers are as highly regarded as Stanley Kubrick, and if you’re looking to add a few classics to your film collection, then this deal on three of Kubrick’s biggest films–all in high-quality 4K ultra-high-definition–is not to be missed. Normally $85, you can get the Kubrick Collection of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, and The Shining for just $30 at Amazon.
If you’ve never seen these films, then you’re in for a treat. 2001: A Space Odyssey is a compelling drama of man vs. machine in a universe in which humanity might very well be alone amongst the stars. Released back in 1968, the film is a thought-provoking and slow-burning experience that was released at the height of the Cold War space race between the US and Russia.
Then there’s Full Metal Jacket, a film of two parts. In the first half, you have an examination of how marine recruits went through a dehumanizing training process before they were shipped off to the battlefields of the Vietnam War, with R. Lee Ermey being a force of foul-mouthed nature as the drill sergeant from hell.
Then there’s The Shining, a film that is infamous for Kubrick pushing his cast and crew to their breaking points in his pursuit of cinematic perfection. The end result is a terrifying adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel, anchored by incredible performances from Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duval as they find themselves trapped in a sinister hotel. Each film comes with a wealth of extras, as well as Blu-ray 1080p discs in case you don’t have a 4K player.
