Star Wars Jedi: Survivor improves the formula introduced by its predecessor, Jedi: Fallen Order, in pretty much every possible way. From exploring the many different planets featured in the game to taking down hordes of Stormtroopers, droids, and other dangerous creatures, everything is just much more enjoyable to do.
Combat in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor wasn’t just improved over its predecessor but vastly expanded with new abilities that will make players feel even more like a true Jedi Knight. Among the features that expanded the Souls series-inspired combat system of the franchise are different Lightsaber Stances that determine Cal’s abilities. Here’s how to unlock all five of them.
How to Unlock All Lightsaber Stances
Single and Double-Sided Stances
The Single and Double-Sided Stances, which make a glorious return from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, are unlocked automatically at the very start of the game. Following Cal’s feigned capture, which allowed him and his group to infiltrate Coruscant to steal important data from an Imperial Senator, the Jedi will eventually get back his Lightsaber. Once he does, you can switch between the balanced Single stance, a balanced stance that is useful in a variety of situations, and the crowd-controlling Double-Sided stance by pressing left and right on the directional pad.
Dual Wield Stance
The Dual Wield Stance is also unlocked automatically at the end of the starting sequence on Coruscant. After managing to retrieve the data Cal and his group were looking for, the Jedi will have to face a familiar face, the Ninth Sister Imperial Inquisitor. After depleting over two-thirds of the enemy’s health, a cutscene will play showing Cal splitting his Lightsaber to better quell the Inquisitor’s rage. After the Inquisitor is defeated, the offense-focused stance will be permanently unlocked.
Blade and Blaster Stance
The Blade and Blaster Stance is the stance in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor that feels considerably less Jedi-like than any other, as it is rare to see a member of the renowned order fight with a Blaster gun. To unlock this Stance that gives Cal great versatility for both close and long-range combat, you will need to reach the third planet in the game, Jedha. After a few cutscenes, where you will get reacquainted with some familiar faces, you will reach Bode’s hideout, where he will gift one of his blasters to Cal, unlocking the stance permanently.
Crossguard Stance
The devastating but slow Crossguard Stance is the final Lightsaber Stance that can be unlocked in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Right after reaching the hideout on Jedha, you have to choose to head to the Shattered Moon of Koboh. Once in the laboratory, proceed through the main objectives until you have to fight the powerful Dyra Thorne. After the enemy has been taken down, Cal will pick his Crossguard Lightsaber to modify his own. Once the modifications are complete, you will have to fight off a few enemies with the new Crossguard Stance, permanently unlocking it after defeating all of them.
How To Equip Lightsaber Stances

While Star Wars Jedi: Survivor features five different Lightsaber Stances, it is not possible to switch between all five of them at any time, as it is possible to assign only two of them to the left and right buttons on the directional pad. You can switch the equipped Lightsaber Stances at any Workbench or Meditation Point.
