Seattle-based games developer Starform has raised $6 million in a funding round led by Bitkraft Ventures.
The studio plans to use the new funds to expand its team and reach new players for its air-combat arena shooter game Metalstorm.
Starform is led by CEO Lou Fasulo and co-founders Taylor Daynes and Jason English. It is focused on creating game experiences that “unite friends and foster community.”
The developer has also expanded its team, including the hires of COO Stefan Ramirez (formerly of King and Riot Games), director of productions Chris Hager (ex-343 Industries), principal engineer Jeremy Friesen (ex-The Pokemon Company), and Jesse Roberts as social media marketing (ex-Evil Geniuses).
Starform plans to bring Metalstorm to other platforms outside mobile in early 2025. Led by Bitkraft, the round saw additional participation from Dune Ventures.
Uniting players across platforms
“We believe in crafting short-session experiences that unite players across platforms,” said Fasulo. “Metalstorm is all about facilitating connections – whether among friends or new acquaintances – through shared, thrilling gameplay that fits seamlessly into busy schedules.”
Bitkraft Ventures’ founding partner Malte Barth added: “Starform’s vision for accessible, cross-platform multiplayer competitive gaming is compelling.
“After the launch in November 2023 and more than 3M players, Metalstorm exemplifies how deeply engaging team-based play and innovative game design can create meaningful and long-term connections among players.”
