Saudi-based developer Steer Studios‘ debut title Grunt Rush has surpassed one million downloads worldwide.
The title, which first amassed 500,000 downloads in beta, has now recorded one million downloads less than a month after its April 17th, 2025 launch.
Grunt Rush was developed primarily by first-time developers, originating from an internal pitch competition linked to a developer training program.
The game is a free offline tactical war game where players lead massive mob armies in epic battles, strategising to overcome opponents and unlock rewards through various levels.
“Truly motivating”
“Hitting one million downloads with Grunt Rush means a lot to us,” Steer Studios CEO Yannick Theler told PocketGamer.biz. “It’s our first game, and seeing this kind of response from players around the world is incredibly rewarding.
“What makes it especially encouraging is that it was achieved by a brand-new team, with many working on their very first game. We’ve been training, building, and learning all at the same time and to already see these kinds of results is truly motivating.
“The team poured so much passion and energy into making something fun and fresh, and this milestone is a powerful boost as we continue to grow. It also shows what’s possible from this region, and we’re excited about what’s next.”
