Supercell’s Clash Mini will be integrated into Clash Royale in June 2025, returning more than a year after delisting.
As reported by MobileGamer.biz, Supercell intends to transform Clash Royale into a strategy games platform inspired by Roblox, Fortnite and League of Legends.
Clash Royale general manager Aleksandar Markovic announced this direction during RovioCon Google 2024.
Clashing back
Clash Mini closed down on April 25th, 2024, more than two years on from its beta release, after failing to meet Supercell’s high standards for a full-scale launch.
Fans were warned of the coming closure six weeks before the shutdown, giving some time to continue playing the grid-based auto battler in a fully free-to-play form, with in-app purchases unavailable and any pre-existing player spending able to be transferred to other Supercell titles.
Then, in late April, Clash Mini was shut down and delisted from stores, unavailable ever since.
While most of Supercell’s axed games end there, Clash Mini is an exception. The dev team saw “very high potential” in the title and vague plans for an integration into Clash Royale were announced back in March to “better serve many more players”.
The dev team suggested that within Clash Royale, Clash Mini could reach “its fullest potential”.
Now, as promised, Clash Mini’s return has been confirmed for June 2025 as a new game mode within the tower defence game. The move will aim to push Clash Royale’s transformation into a “strategy hub experience” instead of a single game, following its dev team’s reflection on whether Royale’s best days were “behind us or ahead of us”.
This platform plan is now underway with Markovic open to new game modes developed by Supercell teams and external companies.
He suggested that Goblin Queen’s Journey was effectively the first test of this new platform direction, released in July 2024, though it ultimately had a high churn rate.
