Microsoft’s next-generation tablet 2-in-1 may have leaked just days before its official announcement.
The company is expected to reveal new Surface hardware at a special event scheduled for Sept. 22. But on Sept. 19 a Twitter user, “Shadow_Leak,” shared what appeared to be a leaked ad detailing some of the Surface Pro 8’s specs.
The most recent generational update to the Surface Pro lineup arrived with the Surface Pro 7 in 2019. Microsoft did release the Surface Pro 7+ for Business in February, but as the “+” modifier suggests, that was merely a mid-generation update.
Now it seems Microsoft is ready to release a truly next-gen 2-in-1. This leak claims the Surface Pro 8 will feature Windows 11, Intel’s 11th Gen Core processors, a 13-inch display with smaller bezels and 120 Hz refresh rate, and Thunderbolt ports.
The Surface Pro 8 is also expected to join the Surface Pro 7+, Surface Pro X, and various Surface Laptop models in offering removable SSDs to allow buyers to upgrade their storage rather than requiring them to buy a higher capacity SSD upfront.
Microsoft didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. It shouldn’t take long to learn if this information is accurate, however, with the company’s plan to live-stream the special event on its website starting at 11 a.m. ET on Sept. 22.
