The Expanse: A Telltale Series is a new episodic adventure series from a reformed version of Telltale Games and Deck Nine (the team behind Life is Strange: Before the Storm and True Colors). Like the Telltale series of old this one largely focuses on story, player choice, and quick-time action scenes, but it also features the occasional puzzle you’ll need to solve.
Said puzzles usually aren’t that difficult, but a slightly more tricky one presents itself early in Episode 4 of the series. At the beginning of the chapter Camina Drummer has been stranded on an airless abandoned space quarry and in order to progress you need to enter the mining tunnels. Unfortunately, these are locked with players having to enter a specific passcode to progress. So, how do you proceed? Here’s the solution for those stuck…
- Step 1 – Before you open the Mining Tunnels door, you’ll have to activate a series of junction boxes in order to power up and move some mining equipment. The game automatically directs you toward them. It may not be immediately obvious, but powering up the junction boxes creates a faint trail between them. Back off so you can see the entire wall of junction boxes to see the pattern. Or just check out the hand-dandy image from above.
- Step 2 – Now, enter this pattern into the panel that control the Mining Tunnels door.
And there you have it! You’re through. Not a terribly difficult puzzle, but one that can still be confusing as the game doesn’t explain it particularly well.
BONUS! Later in Episode 4 you’ll have to open another door, but the handle will break. The game tasks you with finding a handle replacement. There are several options in the area, but most won’t work – you want to fly up to the ceiling and retrieve a piece of metal rebar to use as a new handle.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series is being released on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. Episodes 1 through 4 have been released thus far – Episode 5 arrives on September 21. You can check out Wccftech’s other The Expanse guides here.
