The Realme GT is officially launching in Europe. The global version of the phone was just announced, with the company calling it a flagship killer, and we are here to tell you all about it.
Design
The design of the global version of the Realme GT is the same as the one of the Chinese version. Of course this is not a bad thing. The GT has a design that is up to par with other 2021 smartphones. The 6.43-inch display is small in bezels and has a punch-hole camera cutout in its top-left corner. Realme GT’s back has a dual-color glossy design for the Racing Yellow color variant. The phone’s power button has a yellow accent. Other color variants include Dashing Silver and Dashing Blue which also have a glossy finish. A slight camera bump is present, which has the now modern boxy shape we’ve come to see in smartphones ever since the Samsung Galaxy S20 series.
“In terms of design, the GT product series is inspired by racing cars. The Realme GT closely follows the core spirit of speed.” – Alessio Bradde, Product Marketing Manager of Realme
Speakerwise, the new phone has dual speakers with Dolby Atmos sound. A lineal motor driving the tactile engine brings better haptics with games in mind. Another pleasant surprise is the presence of a headphone jack. An in-screen fingerprint scanner is present too.
Display and cameras
Realme’s GT phone has an impressive, 6.43-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. The display’s specs are similar to flagship phones like the Samsung Galaxy S21 and the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra. The screen-to-body ratio is at 85.9%, which isn’t the greatest we’ve seen, but isn’t that bad either.
The Realme GT packs a triple camera system. On the back we find a 64MP Sony IMX682 sensor, 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. Nightmode is present on the Realme GT, with the company even adding its Nightmode Video technology called Ultra Nightscape Video 2.0. The selfie camera is a 16MP punch-hole unit.
Performance, storage, software and battery
Realme brag about the GT being a flagship killer, and it sure has the necessary processor to be one in 2021. A Snapdragon 888 processor is what powers the Realme GT. The phone has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A costlier version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB will also be offered.
The 120Hz refresh rate display coupled with Qualcomm’s flagship processors should make for a really great performing smartphone with smooth animations and great response.
The software used on the GT is Realme UI 2.0, which is based on Android 11. According to Realme, the GT will be one of the first devices to support Beta 1 of Android 12.
Price, release date and availability
The Realme GT will cost €449 for the 8GB RAM, 128GB of storage version, making it one of the cheapest Snapdragon 888 powered smartphones. The 12GB RAM version with 256GB of storage will cost €549. The company will ship the device to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Portugal and Luxembourg, though other EU countries could be included in the future too. You can choose to be notified when the Realme GT is available to order on the company’s website.
