The Last of Us show by HBO managed to become incredibly successful in a very short amount of time, and it definitely looks like its popularity isn’t going to decrease anytime soon, as it is averaging a huge number of users in the United States.
According to a new Warner Bros Discovery report, shared on Twitter by @DomsPlaying, the show based on the successful game developed by Naughty Dog is averaging almost 32 million viewers per episode in the United States. Things are going great in other regions as well since the show is the most-watched title available on HBO Max in Europe and Latin America. With the show’s success, the total streaming subscriber count rose by 1.6 million since December for a total of 97.6 million subscribers, making this segment profitable.

The huge number of viewers worldwide is completely deserved, as The Last of Us is one of the best video game adaptations of all time. It is a shame that Naughty Dog failed to capitalize properly on the show’s success with The Last of Us Part 1 PC port, which launched in a terrible state and is still far from being fixed. Last week, the developer released patch 1.0.4, which brings more fixes and optimization improvements but fails to address some of the port’s most critical issues.
Thankfully, the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 isn’t the only available on the market, as the remake of Naught Dog’s title is also available on PlayStation 5, where it runs much better. Aside from the removal of the multiplayer elements, the remake is extremely faithful to the original game and the best way to experience Joel and Ellie’s story, as Kai highlighted in his review.
