Capcom’s new action game Exoprimal is available to play via Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass now. The game has launched for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC, and serves as Capcom’s newest IP.
Exoprimal is a PvPvE action game that pits teams of players against deadly dinosaurs. Each player controls an exofighter that falls into one of three categories: Assualt, Tank, and Support. These various classes offer different abilities and teams must utilize them in conjunction with one another to survive the horde of dinosaurs.
Exoprimal does support cross-play matchmaking but restricts its party system only to those within the same platform ecosystem. In other words, players can matchmake with anyone on any platform, but can only join a party within specific platform ecosystems.
On day 1, Exoprimal will support cross-platform matchmaking, but party creation will be specific to each platform ecosystem, as seen below in no particular order:
Group 1: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows
Group 2: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
Group 3: Steam— Exoprimal (@exoprimal) July 7, 2023
Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC players can join a party, while users on PS4 and PS5 can squad up as well. Cross-play parties are not currently enabled for Steam. Capcom says it’s investigating ways to enable true cross-play parties beyond a platform ecosystem, but notes that “this may take some time.”
Capcom also recently revealed Exoprimal’s roadmap, outlining general plans for content through the start of 2024. Thus far, Capcom has confirmed three seasons of post-launch content, but has also teased plans for even more updates afterward.
