The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a massive open-world game, and as with every open-world game released to date, it has its fair share of glitches and bugs, although far fewer than other titles. While some of these issues can get annoying, a few others can be exploited to do things that are normally not possible.
Among these normally impossible things to do is the ability to duplicate shields and weapons. As the game, like its predecessor, features limited weapon durability, having a decent supply of powerful weapons and shields can really improve the experience of those who don’t like having their tools of destruction break up in the middle of a fight without having a worthy replacement.
How to Duplicate Items in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Duplicating items in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom isn’t a particularly complicated procedure and can be done right from the start of the game. Do note you will need to have a weapon with the “???” symbol to pick up, so you cannot repeat this glitch over and over without finding an unknown weapon or shield again.
- Drop the weapon and shield you want to duplicate, and make sure you have none equipped.
- Pick up the item with the “???” symbol
- Once the window with the item information pops up, press the + button to open the inventory.
- Sort the inventory with the Y button
- Equip an item that you want to turn into a duplicate of the item you first dropped.
- Drop this item you have equipped and pick it up. It will be a copy of the first item you have dropped.
As this is a glitch, we should expect Nintendo to patch it out from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with future updates, so make sure to take advantage of it as soon as you can.
