The Steam Deck is great. It’s also big and heavy, especially compared to older handheld gaming devices like the Game Boy or Switch. What’s a PC gamer to do to soothe their tired arms? With this new accessory, you could simply strap it to anything that’s made for a GoPro action camera. Like your chest, for example.
The Steam Deck GoPro Mount from GetMechanism (spotted by Steam Deck HQ) isn’t really a mount in and of itself. It’s an adapter. But since it works with anything made for the extremely popular GoPro line, you can see how it unlocks a lot of possibilities. Strap a Steam Deck to a clamp-on tripod, or a harness for bungee jumping, or a kayak, or an ATV.
Or, probably much more likely, to your chest. As seen in the adapter’s own promo images. So you don’t have to hold it up in bed. I say this with absolutely zero judgment, as a man who on more than one occasion has tapped links on my phone with my nose so I didn’t have to get my hand out from under the warm covers.
The adapter itself is just $9, but you’ll need the $19 Deckmate Grip to attach it to your Steam Deck. Similar grips are available for the Switch, Asus ROG Ally, and Ally X. The Gaming Pillow add-on seems perfect for my theoretical purposes, but it’s sadly back-ordered at the moment.
