This is when Galaxy S23 series users should expect to receive their first taste of Android 14

Samsung is about to bring some of the Android 14 experience to Galaxy users through the One UI 6 Beta program. The One UI interface moves most of the touchable elements to the bottom of the display so that a large-screened phone can be used with one hand. One UI 6 will also bring Android 14 to compatible Galaxy phones. According to SamMobile, Samsung planned to start releasing the One UI 6 Beta once the Android 14 Beta program reached platform stability. That was achieved with Android 14 Beta 3.

With Google currently offering Android 14 Beta 3.1 to certain Pixel devices, the Beta program has gone beyond platform stability which means that all work on apps has basically been completed. This doesn’t mean that everything is working right though; for example the Android 14 Beta 3 update broke the share sheet on certain Pixel models (until that is fixed, go to the Play Store and install Sharedr). But we digress.

The Galaxy S23 series should receive Android 14 well before the end of the year

Now that Android 14 is at platform stability, SamMobile has learned exclusively that Samsung will roll out the first One UI 6 Beta update during the third week of July. The update will be aimed at the current flagship series, the Galaxy S23 line. Other models will start receiving the first One UI 6 Beta release shortly after they are sent out to the Galaxy S23 models.

The starting date for the One UI 6 Beta rollout is very important since the earlier the program kicks off, the earlier the final public version is released. Last year, the Galaxy S22 line, which was the reigning flagship model at the time, received Android 13 with the stable One UI 5 starting on October 24th of last year.

Samsung has been slowly reducing how long users of its flagship series have to wait each year to receive the latest version of Android. In 2021, Galaxy S21 users didn’t receive the stable One UI 4.0 update with Android 12 until November. And the previous year, One UI 3 and Android 11 were released for the Galaxy S20 series in December.
