If you’ve never seen it, Tokyo Ghoul takes place in a world where a secret war is being waged between society and a human-like creatures called Ghouls who survive on human flesh. Loner Ken Kaneki finds himself caught in the middle of this conflict after a date turns deadly and a life-saving operation horrifyingly transforms him into a human-ghoul hybrid. With the option of being either the hunter or the hunted, Kaneki has to navigate between new social dynamics while striving to maintain his humanity.
The entire Tokyo Ghoul storyline is spread across 48 episodes, and for this release, that works out to eight Blu-ray discs in total. For the extras, you’re getting both of the Jack and Pinto OVA episodes, textless credit sequences, select episode commentary, promo videos, trailers, and a Q&A session with the cast and crew. This is all bundled in a pretty slick slipcase featuring newly commissioned artwork from the animation studio Pierrot.
Though Crunchyroll is selling the Tokyo Ghoul 10th Anniversary Blu-ray collection for about $11 less at the moment, Amazon has a friendlier preorder policy. If you preorder at Amazon, you won’t be charged until your item ships and are guaranteed to only pay the lowest price offered from the time you order and release. Crunchyroll does not offer a preorder price guarantee and charges when you place your order.
