In Towers of Aghasba, you play as a junior architect trying to heal the withered and corrupted lands around you. Of course, this is no easy feat and will require in-depth knowledge of the areas around you, as well as a ton of exploration to uncover secrets and new ways to explore the region of Aghasba. This game is unique in that while there is a story to uncover along the way, you also have a lot of free reigns, as it’s a creative sandbox game where your sole mission is to restore the Shimu civilization.
In a preview presentation, Khang Le, the CEO, Co-Founder, and Game Director of Dreamlit Games, spoke about the inspiration for Towers of Aghasba and mentioned that Studio Ghibli was heavily at the forefront. Movies such as Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind became a heavy inspiration for the project. Additionally, games such as Shadow of the Colossus and Minecraft were listed as key inspirations for the upcoming title. When deciding to go for a builder game, titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing: New Horizons stood as influences for Towers of Aghasba. In Towers of Aghasba, you also have the option to explore the region on your own in solo play or team up with up to three more players in co-op.
Early Access is just around the corner, and players will soon be able to dive into the game and find out what they can expect from this title, created by indie studio Dreamlit Games in partnership with Kowloon Nights. Kowloon Nights is an investment company that has helped with games such as Spiritfarer, Sifu, Tchia, and Sea of Stars, to name a few. Towers of Aghasba will officially be launching in Early Access as of November 19 on both PlayStation 5 and Steam, priced at $29.99. Additionally, those who pre-order the game on PlayStation 5 will get extra goodies such as exclusive island decorations, unique masks, customizations, and even your very own Harelope mount.
The title has a lot of exploration and content to uncover, even in the Early Access period of the game, with three unique ecosystems to try and restore and grow and three different types of towns to construct. Additionally, for those who enjoy the flora and fauna element, there are 40+ creatures to discover and 120+ plants to grow and harvest. For those who enjoy life skills, fishing is already confirmed, and there are over 150 decoration recipes.
