Dinner parties are back, baby! After two years of solitary meals, Uber Eats is championing the formal return of indoor gatherings with a new suite of Group Ordering features.
It may be hard to remember, but there was a time not long ago when team takeout meant passing a single device around so each person could add their dinner to the basket, the cost of which was ultimately shared among individuals.
But, much like buffets after a pandemic, those days are over: Uber Eats has introduced a new way to split the bill without anyone paying more than their share. The delivery service now lets users create an in-app group, where each member places their order from the same restaurant and pays for “whatever they’d like.” The host then checks out for everyone, eliminating the need for complicated calculations and awkward requests for repayment.
All food gets delivered together—ASAP or at the deadline you set at checkout. Time frames can be set up to seven days in advance, so everyone has plenty of time to order. Uber Eats even reminds everyone to make a selection, so you don’t have to keep pestering that friend who just can’t commit (we all have one).
“Whether you’re ordering lunch for an office of hungry team members, or planning your next Taco Tuesday with friends who have a variety of tastes, Uber’s new Group Ordering features are here to help make getting together for meals easier than ever,” the company said.
All new features are available on the Uber Eats website and mobile app.
